On Sunday Aug. 11, once again Flotilla 26 was requested to provide on-the-water support for the Sylvan Beach Canal Fest Water Ski Show. The event takes place in the navigation portion of the canal. The Coast Guard Auxiliary was tasked with looking out for traffic that may need to move through the area.
The show takes place in two 20-minute segments with a break to allow for any traffic to move through.
Flotilla 26 provided both personal watercraft (PWC) and Auxiliary paddlecraft (AUXPAD) support. John Conroy, Mike Kennedy and Steve Bollenbacher were PWC operators. Michelle Stoddard, Holly Dillard and Kevin Coursen were AUXPAD kayakers. They all had radios for Coms and John was responsible for communicating with Coast Guard Station Oswego.
