2025 Leaders at the Helm

Sara Barden of Durhamville has been re-elected commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Sylvan Beach Flotilla 26, and Michelle Stoddard of East Syracuse has been elected vice flotilla commander. Their one-year terms run until December 31, 2025.

.A Coast Guard Auxiliarist since August 2011, Barden has participated in safety patrols and search-and-rescue training as a boat crew member. She also has served as vice flotilla commander and recreational boating safety program visitor. A graphic designer and artist, Barden also serves on the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s national level as a branch assistant for graphic design.
 
 

Stoddard, an accountant and experienced kayaker, joined the Auxiliary in July 2023 and quickly became qualified as a paddle craft operator and instructor. She helped lead a 2024 Paddle Craft Academy for Coast Guard Auxiliarists. Stoddard also has served as human resource officer, finance officer, and vessel examiner. On the national level, she was appointed as a paddle craft (ashore) branch assistant, and on the district level, as a paddle craft (ashore) staff officer.
